The series draws on the visual language of Christian iconography, particularly the halo as a device that elevates and glorifies the head above the body. The work stems from an interest in our cultural privileging of the mind over the body, and the ways this hierarchy is reflected in contemporary experiences of mental health. Conceived as contemporary altarpieces, these works combine plaster-cast heads, references to pharmaceutical pills, incense, and fluorescent pigments that evoke halos and auras.
