(this also is but) A striving after wind. (2026) explores the fragile boundary between sanctity and (in)sanity. Moving through three symbolic realms — the celestial, the bodily, and the medical-industrial — the installation reflects on states of consciousness that exist beyond conventional human understanding. Drawing from the biblical story of Pentecost, the work depicts a moment in which the Holy Spirit descends upon the disciples, who begin speaking in unknown tongues and are mistaken for drunk or mad. For me, this story offers a powerful framework through which to consider forms of experience that contemporary Western culture is often too quick to pathologise or dismiss.


The installation questions the narrow definitions of normalcy imposed by modern systems of order and control. Twelve repeated figures reference both the disciples and broader human structures of measurement — clocks, calendars, cycles — while motifs resembling DNA and chromosomes point toward the mysterious intelligence already present within the body itself. The figures are intentionally de-emphasised without individual heads or identities, instead becoming vessels: bodily forms animated by forces larger than conscious thought. The work ultimately asks how we might reconnect with forms of spirit, embodiment, and collective experience that resist easy explanation.


Alongside this installation, my wider practice explores the relationship between spirituality, psychology, materiality, and systems of human organisation. Working across disciplines, I am interested in the ways bodies, objects, and belief systems make up the webs that hold us. My work often draws from religious imagery, medical structures, and personal experience to investigate states of dependency and interconnectedness. Through processes of repetition, fragmentation, and reconstruction, I seek to create spaces that feel both intimate and symbolic — environments where vulnerability, ritual, and uncertainty can coexist. Central to my practice is a desire to question the rigid distinctions we impose upon ourselves and each other. Instead, striving to find and exist within those blurry, undefined, in-between spaces which offer the most fertile ground for connection to the human and the holy.

B is for Biquelle emerged from a larger body of work titled Q is for Quetiapine, named after the antipsychotic medication commonly prescribed in the treatment of mania, insomnia, and anxiety. The series draws on the visual language of Christian iconography, particularly the halo as a device that elevates and glorifies the head above the body.

The work stems from an interest in our cultural privileging of the mind over the body, and the ways this hierarchy is reflected in contemporary experiences of mental health. Conceived as contemporary altarpieces, these works combine plaster-cast heads, references to pharmaceutical pills, incense, and fluorescent pigments that evoke halos and auras. Through these materials, B is for Biquelle reimagines devotional imagery to explore the intersections of psychiatry, spirituality, and the symbolic weight we place upon the human mind.

50 porcelain bowls, 1 unconsumed pill, 1 ‘dead’ battery + 500 sheets of paperThe bowl is a simple container that allows its contents to be shown rather than concealed. 50 bowls form a podium atop of which lies a treasure : lithium.Lithium as a fluxLithium as an energizerLithium as a stabiliserEnergeia speaks to the actuality of things as they are, as opposed to the potentiality of what they could be.Thus lithium, the lightest metal, made heavy by its multitude of applications is placed here to be seen as the treasure that it is, not only defined by the functions that it has.
